I took the original MaduixaCNC model and modified several parts to make it work using 12mm steel rods in place of the 8mm and LM12UU linear bearings instead of the 8mm bearings.
In addition, I also modified y-carriage-cnc and y-triangle-CNC to make them into 1 part (called y-carriage-cnc_short+X support_left and _right). It makes the connection between them stronger, I might make it bigger in the Y direction in the future to improve stability of the y carriage.
Another change is a small dip in the X carriage to accommodate the NEMA17 motor which was not possible to mount in my case because of the position of the screws.
Also made a version of the x-corner-CNC-AB with straight mounting feet to allow more accurate placement.
Also extended the Z-carriage to accommodate 2 LM12UU bearings.
The following should be taken from the original model:
2sides-corner-CNC
3sides-corner-CNC
bed-holder-CNC
universal-holder-CNC
x-drive-train-CNC
x-end-idler-CNC
I'm also adding my own design dremel holder (for some generic dremel-like machine with a round diameter of 47mm if I remember correctly) and a pen holder for drawing.
I hope I didn't miss anything, it works perfectly! I have some issues with Amp draw and my power supply, soon to be remedied :)
Very solid build, so far tested only on MDF as stock, will probably do more testing after I replace the power supply.
I'm running it with the modified Marlin (using the 2 Z outputs as Y) and interestingly found out I can run the G-Code from a Raspberry PI running Repetier-Server! So I get a webcam interface to follow my machine when I'm not there.
My best result so far, with 2 passes (rough + fine) is the title picture, I am VERY happy with the result, even though there is a slight miss in the rough part because of the power supply issue (X motor jitters when moving slowly sometimes).
Update 25-July-2016:
Created updated version of X-drivetrain, Y-carriage and Z-carriage for higher stiffness level, it greatly reduced the flexing between X and Y as well as reduced the play in the X axis motion.
The new parts are marked as _V2 at the end.
Update 27-August-2016:
Created a Nema 23 version of the y-end-motor and y-end-idler as well as x-end-idler parts.
These have been created based on the theoretical sizes so please confirm they fit when someone tries them.
Remember, you have to use the correct idler with the different motor size for the middle hole to line up.
Just realized you don't need the X-idler for Nema 23...
Update 9-SEP-2016
Added Nema23 y-carriage STL with both sides in one STL.
Update 11-SEP-2016
Split y-carriage to Left and Right.
Also fixed the normals on the Right one.
Update 16-SEP-2016
Thanks to @MAXANJLI, fixed a mistake in the Y carriages for Nema23.
Update 9-OCT-2016
Added spindle mount for 52mm Spindle, works, but can be better...
Update 3-Dec-2016
Some updates, a lot has changed since the previous version:
I replaced both Y and X threaded rod with a:https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8x500mm-Lead-Screw-Rod-T-Shape-Linear-Rail-Bar-Shaft-with-Brass-Nut-lead-screw/32636940699.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.l42jsw
Which required a edit the parts that hold the nuts for X and Y, new versions uploaded.
The maximal speed at low motor speed (high torque) is much improved, also added some endstop switches, and voila, fast homing:https://1drv.ms/v/s!AlMOSniKVu-g1GBfAl8Pi5JcBFgv
Also made a small change in the structure with a big impact, instead of using the standoffs for the build plate, I screwed down a full plate on top of the frame.
This contributed a lot to the rigidity of the frame, still working on getting a clamping method that works well with this, currently using screws, but waiting for a T type end mill to make grooves in my build plate.
As for the spindle mount, PLA is not a good material for a mount because when the spindle warms up the PLA gets warped.
Changed it to wood + aluminum bracket.
I like how it works:https://1drv.ms/v/s!AlMOSniKVu-g1FqZFfRhgI9U4gjy
Update January 10
I've switched over to an mpcnc structure.
Moved my electronics and some of of my trusty Maduixa with a baby heart (can't afford to have two CNC machines in my small shed).
Initial impressions are mixed. Mpcnc is much faster (belt driven) but also less rigid (belt driven :) ).
I do like the speed improvement and already have some ideas for improving rigidity.
Thanks for following this project!
I will of course continue supporting questions and requests!
