Lion Exibit

A potential exibit design for my African Lion. Tall steel fencing prevents escape by jumping, and inwardly slanting fencing over the top of the hay-lined privacy cave prevents escape by climbing. Trees are all far enough away from the edges of the exibit to prevent this also, though lions do not have the affinity for climbing trees of the smaller big cats. Dead tree has been left in the enclosure for scratching, and a shallow pool is provided for drinking or lounging. A food tray is present for zookeepers to slide out, fill, and slide back in, which allows for minimal risk of injury and also is less time consuming than a personal feeding. A tall gate is present for personal feedings also, during which guests may stand beneath the shade structures for a lengthy view of the lions' meal. Double fencing ensures that the guests cannot get close enough to reach through the bars and lose limbs to a hungry lion. The exibit has been designed to be a balanced one, where the viewing needs of guests are aligned with the privacy and habitat needs of the great cat.
