This is a light bar that mounts to the raspberry pi mount in thing 504823, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:504823.
The LEDs provide sufficient light to see the part being printed when using the camera even if the printer is in a dark room. Even if it is an room with lighting, the LEDs light up the part being printed without any shadows.
It holds 6 LEDs, they are wired in two sets of 3. Each set is in series with a current limiting resistor, I used 200 ohms. Each white LED has a voltage drop of about 3V so with 3 in series and the current limiting resistor it runs well off of the main 12V supply. The two sets of series LEDs are connected in parallel to the 12V power supply. To make things neat and prevent any short circuits I used some heat shrink tubing to cover the wiring in the case.
You use the parts from the thing 504823, except that you need to replace the bracket that holds the raspberry pi box with the one here. The LED light bar mounts below the camera. There are two covers: a left and right that slide onto the light to cover the LEDs and the wiring. The new and modified parts are all yellow parts in the photos, the original camera mount is printed in red.
