Located on Launceston's Glebe Flats, these 3 connected buildings were built as detonator sheds for the North Esk Powder Magazine. The Detonator Sheds were built as part of the original 1850s powder magazine are contained within the inner compound. These 3 buildings were connected to the Dynamite Wharf and Explosives Bunker via an elevated narrow gauge tramway, part of which is still embedded within the central platform, though the wharf is rotten through with little more than piles remaining. The main long house has since deteriorated badly and all trace of the roof is gone. These buildings served all the major wars through to the 2nd World War. The site is now located on agricultural land and belongs to 49 Boland Street. All the buildings are heritage listed and the council has made proposals to restore the site as a tourist feature in the future.
