Double cyclone oil/air separator.
Designed to be used on a 300Tdi engine for separating the engine oil from the camshaft breathing air. Bolts onto the tappet cover. The oil comes out at the bottom cover connected to the sump. The clean air comes out at the top and is connected to the air intake to create a suction effect.
I put this separator on my 1996 300tdi Land Rover Defender and found that it works better than the original Land Rover design that uses one cyclone and spring and rubber seal. The 2 cyclones allows for more air flow while preventing oil from escaping.
I have designed it as 3 parts and a lid (Can be found in the top separator part). This is to make it 3D printable with the minimum amount of support. The parts should still be properly cleaned from the supports for it to work properly. All airflow channels should be cleared.
The PDF explains how it works at how it should be assembled.
NB!!! This object must be printed in a material with a high temperature melting point or a heat resistant material as the air in the engine are hot!
The pieces must be glued together snugly to prevent air from leaking out of the system. Air leaks may hinder the efficient operation of the part.
This object can be used for many other purposes as well. Such as separating liquids of different densities, separating dust or mist from air etc..
