I need 360° white light to meet navigation requirements for my morning kayak trips. I work this up in Autodesk Fusion 360. Did several rough prints using an Ultamaker 2+, With the final copy being printed with a formmaker resin printer.
The LED is a T10 base 12 V automotive light purchased on eBay for a couple of dollars. I also purchased a T 10 socket on eBay again for a couple dollars. I took apart a 9 V battery to get the terminals solder them to the socket, and used JB Weld to fasten it to the underside of the cap. I used closed cell foam in the battery box just to secure the 9 V. The light dome is the cap off of a dry erase cleaner bottle. I scuffed the inside with sand paper for a bit more glow.
To use the light I simply clip the onto the 9 V and the light lights up. Battery life is more than five hours, light output seems right for a navigation light. The base is sized to fit into a mast made from half inch PVC. I simply fasten that PVC mast to my fishing crate, the mast also holds the safety flag, and it works very very well.
If you make one, take a picture and let me know, please no commercial use without contacting me.
