Founded 12/10/1880 in Old Katonah, NY, the original building was moved in 1897 when the entire town moved 10 miles south to its current location. the Library was maintained as a reading room in a house that moved from Old Katonah. In the late 1920's the current building was built, in the late 1960's an addition was added and the library underwent a interior renovation in the winter 2008-09.
