Iron Man Fightstick Case by Linkreincarnate

Update; Added top panel pictures in some random files generated while making them. I will add the solidworks files once everything is done and finalized.
I added the theme files as they are. IronMan.zip and warmachine.zip can be unzipped to your emulation station themes folder and then selected in the theme selection dialog in the es options menu.
I may change some stuff about the theme in the near future.
I updated the top panel to have a generous amount of space between buttons. I also resized everything to the proper proportions (36.5mm between centers at all times) I decided on 10 gauge galvanized steel (update: it turns out a1008 steel is cheaper and stronger so we've switched to that), and 1/8" inch lexan. The actual dimensions of those come to within .08 of a mm to flush with the top which is close enough for me. Sandpaper will make short work of the difference.
The bottom is going to be plexiglass 1/4" thick.
All that's left for the panel is to add the mounting screws.
An Iron Man (or War Machine) inspired raspberry pi, ps4 and pc compatible fightstick.
Includes everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) needed to play anywhere at any time.
The .stl is dimensionally accurate when exported with mm as the export unit in sketchup. The holes for the arcade buttons are 30mm diameter so that is one thing you could measure to check. I'd wait until the final versions are posted before using them though as there have been a few minor changes.
I've included a bunch of different versions and will probably split a couple off into their own things.
The IronManMK2.41Assembled.skp is the most up to date and complete version. It's also the only version with an accurate top panel atm.
The entire file reports as clean in the solids inspector and XEOMOTRY.com can read the step files generated with freecad from stls exported from sketchup.
Currently there are 4 thin walls where the side pockets meet with the side button cutouts. Leaving the corners rounded will give enough strength to keep the detail but you can cut it out too... The gcode files provided here currently do not cut out the thin walls.
The cheapest I found to print one was on 3d hubs for 246 dollars.
Don't even think about shapeways, they want over 1200 dollars for just the body.
3dSytems was downright rude when I told them my budget.
In the end I found a person in the CNC Zone Forums that hooked me up for 400 dollars for both CAM work included. I suggest that route (especially since the cam files are done already).
The text files included are actually the gcodes used to cnc the model. I'll add more of those as I get them.
The buttons this was modeled around are the ubiquitous sanwa obsf-30. I am planning on putting a Crown CWL-309MJ-KMS-ST25 but the cutout for it on the top panel is probably wrong. I haven't been able to find engineering drawings for that stick to properly size things (update: found the engineering drawings they are included in the photos now).
The layout of the buttons is very nonstandard. This is a Tekken fightstick and I learned to play claw originally (tekken players know what I'm talking about) so rather than relearn all that muscle memory the 4 main buttons are arranged like they are in the playstation controller. (In a diamond) The next 4 are positioned to so that an x is formed and two more are placed after that.
It's also a hitbox style controller so there are an extra 4 buttons on the face for that style of gameplay and ease of switching between the two playstyles (hitbox/joystick)
I've also included the artwork I had commissioned as well as the .psd files used in making it. Credit to TOVIO for some amazing work.
This artwork was created to look like me and my buddy that I am making a copy for.
I haven't looked through the psd files but you may be able to separate the face out into a separate layer and have your face put there instead of mine and my buddie's.
I used that artwork to make a custom theme for emulation station, which I will include later (once it's final and I can get some screenshots of it. ) I will try to get that uploaded to the official repo for themes.
Soon I will roll a custom image of retropie with a few neat little additions like google assistant integration, touch button motor control, safe shutdown button, and rgb led integration. When I do I will try to get it on here but if not I will at least have a link to it here.
Whew, that's a bunch and we haven't even gotten to the paintjob yet! (Candy marble red with gold leafing for iron man, black and silver leafing for war machine)
Not to mention the electronics! (of which there are many) I'll have to get to that in another update though.
If you like this project and would like to help out, please feel free to comment with your contact info and I am sure I can find something that could use the work.
If all this looks like way too much work (it is) and you would like me to design and build you a custom fightstick drop me a line at linkreincarnate AT gmail.com I'd be happy to help you make something amazing!
