Let's fly your bird 132g lighter! (enlarge photos to see arm's weight comparison)
It's a while I had this projet waiting to be completed.
Inspiration from: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:731694 (but made from scratch).
This version is fully functional.
Rear arm connection to body has hooks to let's you close the battery door.
Added also a 'template' to easen drilling the carbon rods.
Material:
Arms rods: 10 mm
Feet rods: 8 mm dia
Some nuts and bolts (dia 3 mm)
Printed in Colorfabb XT-CF20
... you'll have to enlarge openings on the lower iris vessel to accomodate the new connections.
Will fly it this weekend (hopefully) and report.
I have another version also with stronger connections to the body (due to screws setup), but a little heavier. I'm confident anyway this should already work.
Landing should be the most dangerous moment due to model overall rigidity. Will check if this version is though enough!
NOW UPDATED! (22-10-2016)
Much sturdier unified body connection with extra notch to trim blades orientation.
The new 'corpo' is unified, hence print 4 pieces of it.
