Remixed the Ikea Ledberg Plant Lamp,IKEA LED Holder LEDBERG, and the ever popular Modular Mounting System together to make some lights that clamp to the back of my desk.
Benefits
The top is threaded so that the lights fit and twist into place, mimicking the mounting bracket that come with the lights. The wiring for the lights are routed along channels in the back of the arms to keep everything tidy.
The top bit is compatible with the Modular Mounting System, so you can use it to mount lights on all sorts of things.
Clamping lights to the back of your desk frees up a lot of desk space, and gives you a lot of light you can use to grow a small plant! Don't you want a small plant on your desk? I know you do!
Required Parts
This project requires five m5x25 screws, and five m5 bolts per lamp. The IKEA LEDBERG bookshelf lights are a string of 4, so you'll want 20 each.
Known Issues
3D Modeling is not my expertise, this is my first project and there are a couple of problems with the STL Files.
With my print settings, the overhangs for the wire routing on the arms are messy. This is easily remedied by clearing out any stray filament under the overhangs with needle nose pliers. I recommend threading the wire through the wire routing with those same pliers, since the channel is pretty narrow.
The arm axis changer prints poorly. This part is unchanged from the Modular Mounting System, so depending on how old this project is, you might want to check that project to see if an updated STL is available.
(resolved) The "download all" button sends you to a 404 page. The files can still be downloaded individually. This is a Thingiverse issue. I've sent a message to support to hopefully get this corrected.
