I'm 65 and new to Blender. In fact, this is my first attempt to model an object, perhaps proving that old dogs indeed can't be taught new tricks. There are no restrictions on using this model. It's based on Jonathan Williamson's tutorial on CGCookie.com. I watched it several times and then worked on my model from memory. It wasn't easy, but I think I learned more from finding my own solutions. I also probably strayed quite abit from his tutorial along the way.The download file is probably about 2 MB but that's because there's a table and a background photo packed with it. Delete those and the cup is not all that big.I think it turned out fairly well for a first try. At least I'm encouraged to start a new project.I made an important mistake on the lid when I accidently gave it 11 vertices instead of 12. That caused problems later modeling the top of the lid.My UV maps kept getting screwed up/disappearing until I realized I could save them under the Data Objects tab.The jacket texture was a mistake. I was trying to create a cardboard bubblewrap holder, but when I created this texture by accident, it seemed more interesting so I went with it instead.I tried to fit the model with the lighting in the background photo, but I'm not that good yet with Blender lights and fine tuning the colors. I only did it to experiment. Also, I wanted to add DOF to fade the table into the photo, but I failed to get it to work. The manual wasn't helpful.Speed up rendering by turing off AO and maybe some of the fill lights. The 4 fill lights are all linked so change one change all unless you unlink them.
