Updated the fan duct and the fan case.
Fan case now fits microwsiss and stock hotends nicely and has several smaller improvements and adjustments.
The fan duct just got a smaller adjustment.
Alright, after several attempts i got this hearing aid where i want it. I think.
Having options is good. If you think some other fan duct works better... knock yourself out.
This is my attempt to create a single fan duct for a regular 50mm fans, because there arent many options for those and i needed one. I wanted to see if a single duct fan can work, mostly because im fed up with the various "fangs". With the fans i have available all the fangs ive tried barely worked, so i needed something with more cfm power and that needed a new fan duct.
I also wanted to make a design in which the fan duct is mounted directly onto the fan shroud, or fan case (whatever you call that) while that is screwed into the X carriage (V slot bearing) plate and leaves the hotend completely free.
This fan case/shroud is made for a 40mm fan and fits both the stock hotend cooler and the microwsiss one. Its a tight fit for microswiss but just about fits nicely if you push it in a bit.
Although... ill add another model made specifically to fit microwsiss better later.
The fan case or shroud is a remix of a model made by spider65 here: thing:2722733.
Youll need about 6 or 8 screws:
3 x M3 10mm
3 x M3 15mm (plus 2 more if you want to put 4 screws onto the shroud fan)
and 2 or 3 x M3 nuts i guess...
So, you first screw in the fan case/shroud using two holes left free once the stock fan is taken off. Then you mount the fan duct onto the fan case/shroud. .
10 mm screws go into the fan shroud/case and tighten it to the carriage plate. Maybe you will need a small nut or some spacers if you use 15mm long ones. The rest you use to fasten the fan duct onto the fan case/shroud and to fasten a 40mm fan into the case/shroud. The upper screw in the fan duct can be tightened with a small nut on the other side. Or not.
You can put 4 screws into the 40mm fan, but its not really necessary as two diagonal ones are enough to keep it really tight. It doesnt matter which diagonal holes you choose.
.
If you need to get some screws the easiest way to do it is to go into any such hardware store, get a fistful of various sizes, stuff them into your mouth and then exit the store sideways while going Woop! Woop! Whooop! (it never failed me!)
If you think you can do better i would love to see it.
