I first made a model of this boat many years ago when I was twelve years old scratch built from balsa. I thought I would revisit it, now that the convenience of 3D printing is here.
I drew the bits in SketchUp and refined them in NetFabb. The hull was filled lightly with Isopon after the chine strakes and deck edges, made of 1.5mm square Styrene strip, were glued in place and then all hull sanded smooth. I used MitreFast super glue as adhesive for all major joins and UHU POR for sticking all the detail to the deck. Boat finished using Tamiya spray paints and Humbrol acrylic. Best to print all detail parts then spray and position and fix. I sealed the inside of the hull with a two part epoxy resin and packed the bow section with profiled styrofoam pieces and placed styrofoam lengths along the hull sides, all before cementing deck in place.
The hardware used is;
1) Graupner Compact 345Z brushless motor
2)Mtroniks Speed Controller Hydra 15 ESC
3)Amazon sourcing map 3mm dia 2 00mm 3 bladed propellor tube and shaft.
4)Amazon small brass rudder
5)Amazon sourcing map 3pcs 3.175 to 4mm inner dia universal joint coupler.
6)Spectrum RC system.
Yet to try on pond due to pandemic. If you decide to print best of luck.
