Hello my like-minded friends ... here is my "New Years Present" for you ;o)
I always wanted to have a Hexacopter so I decided to design one. The result is something like a construction kit to build the Hexa of your needs.
All parts are designed to fit with a small printer like mine (Up!mini) and serve the electronics and other stuff I had at home.
The idea was to have everything very compact, densed and even protected.
There are different parts for the base that you can all combine as you like. So you will have more options to mount all the things to make this copter flying.
You also have the option to do your own holes and slots, therefor I give you some raw parts.
If you'd like to enclose most of the e-parts inside the body, you may need more space. In this case you should print the bases with affix "HIGH".
Also I made two camera mounts in variations for the good old Mobius and the Eachine MC01. You can use them solo or together.
Even without any dampers I have very smooth recordings from the mobius.
There are two different motor booms available, but even six of the small ones will be enough for 6" props. You may combine them as you like (4 short + 2 long f.ex.).
I'd say using the small ones will make the copter more agile, the long ones should make it a bit more smooth flying...
As you can see the ESCs fit into the booms, so you'll have more room inside the body.
The optional feet will click-fit on every position at the booms. If you may want to mount the batteries under the copter, just use the longer feet.
NOTE 0!! The pics above only show one possible build, yours may look completely different.
NOTE 1!! It's on you to make some new parts that may help others to optimize this copter, I'd appreciate and wish this very much.
NOTE 2!! Sorry for the marks on some parts, but I have my reasons for this.
Things you'll need:
Screws (in different lenghts), washers and nuts are all 3 mm (nuts should be self-locking)
Stand-offs for your needs (I'll provide some different lenghts for printing)
Electronic parts I used:
6 x 2204 Motors from Emax
6 x 12A EMCs also from Emax
1 x Naze32 (FC)
1 x Graupner 12L Receiver
1 x Eachine MC 01 (FPV)
1 x Mobius (Doc-Cam)
I've tested this Hexa with a 3S 2200 Lipo and had round about 15 minutes of relaxed flying.
The whole thing has (in my case) a weight of 850g incl. everything, so doing a little math you'll find out that there is much power left to fire this thing around :oD
(Watch out for the additional parts I'll release in a few days. With these you'll be able to build a Quad-Copter in the same design like the Hexa using almost the same parts!!!)
The announced Quad-Parts are available!!! >>> http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2023216
Now have fun and please share your MAKE with us :o)
BTW: If you like my contributions and designs, feel free to send me a TIP ... ;o)
