SO. . . The CR10/10s/10s pro hotend stock fan mount is rather poorly engineered from my perspective. The hotend fan also cools the part somewhat and the shroud creates turbulence leading to noise less efficient airflow. It is also large, blocks some of the visibility and heavier than it needs to be (less mass moving, less ringing and backlash is better).
Love the HeroMe concept. Moves fan up and at angle, creates less turbulence, allows for better part cooling duct, etch. What I didnt like is that you have to demount the carriage for install and flash new offsets. For what I want to accomplish, seemed excessive.
So, inspired by HeroMe CR10S Pro mounts and fans, I scratch built a new mount. It installs without disassembly of anything other than old metal mount and fan. It decreases mass, allows for more airflow and targeted airflow to hotend heat sink and cools the print less.
To pair with it, I remixed a HeroMe fan duct to mount nicely to my hotend mount. I extended the cooling nozzle a bit, also removed some of the internal baffles that did nothing for air flow at the static pressure and flows of the standard blower fan. The "baffles" that exist in the remix serve more as internal supports for the nozzle. This design is quieter than the stock HeroMe one.
Print the parts in the orientation shown in the above thumb with supports (I use cura tree and PTEG).
So, installation is remove existing mount and fan. install the hotend fan mount with M3 screws to carriage, install blower fan into part cooling duct. One M3 screw to mount to the hotend mount, install part cooling fan (dont recommend shroud or "fan guard", it will just create noise and lower flow.
There is a small block on the back of the mount to act as a support for thin side when printing, simply snip the block off (see thumb above) and you are good to go.
Enjoy. 100 hours of printing on my CR10S pro and zero issues with mulitple filament types.
