I loved Heavy Gear as a kid, even got a few of the official miniatures that were die cast when I was a little older. This past Memorial Day weekend, I decided to give myself a project and design a miniature that was like the Heavy Gears, since I have been on a miniature kick lately (thanks dutchmogul...). I designed this guy off the regular Hunter type. Not entirely accurate but gave it my own personal flair and was my first time designing something with so many parts and details. Designed entirely in Tinkercad!
-Full size he is a little over 150mm.... so for mini size I printed him at 33% and he ended up being right under 50mm.
-There are .stl files for full size and another one that I saved at the 33% scale. There is another .stl with the pieces split up to make the overall mini hopefully look better. You will still need supports for the legs and the chest/arms.
[Tips for printing]
I have been printing most of my minis at 0.10 which I think is a good balance between detail and print time. Some people go lower for higher quality. As for supports, definitely required for most miniatures and this is no exception, however they can be hard to remove. My first print of this guy I did it one one whole print and he broke on the autocannon magazine clip and on one of his legs, so I had to glue the poor guy back together.
