The main fire station in the 6th district of Vienna is one of the nine fire station in the brigade of Vienna. The listed building with its eight garages, was built from 1912 to 1914 from the city construction office on the grounds of the former slaughterhouse Gumpendorf. The putting was on 27 April 1914. Involved in the plannings was the architect Johann RothmŸller. The home style is called Dehio. The relief decoration is executed in the style of the Vienna workshop. The base of the three-story main building is designed as a natural stone plinth, the upper floor as Sichtziegelbau. At a corner of the house the statue of a fireman is located under a canopy. During the Second World War the building was on 17 October and 5 November 1944 severely damaged by bombing. After the war the building was as soon as possible put in order. Between 1994 and 2000 the building was in a general renovation. The fire station is known as one of the most beautiful in the brigade of Vienna.
