Still untested. I'm working on this again. Shrinking it so it can be printed on a smaller 120mm x 120mm printer bed.
New: One piece print version? I saw this vid on YouTube where the guy shows that printing PLA at an angle makes for way stronger prints - for RC car parts.
I'm anxious to try this with this design. Instead of having all these different parts that fit together with screws. Why not just one piece for the whole frame? As long as the Flight controller can fit in there.
Will test print this when I'm done printing some other stuff. Soon.
Concept Notes:
This is my experimental brushless micro drone design. It is a stretched plus configuration, but I made the props on different levels. Stepped? That's what I think that should be called if it doesn't already have a name. Is that ok for flight? I saw that on a quad x design, I bought a frame from ebay like that recently. Haven't tested either yet!
One of the main goals of this build is to not have the propellers in the view, as well as to do something different that looks cool, and might be easier for me to tell which way its facing when flying it "freestyle?" Without the FPV feature. (I Plan on having the camera attached with a small plug so I can unplug it to save battery power if not using the FPV.
Even though I did a great deal of research about this I am still guessing on some stuff. What angle do quadcopters even fly at while moving forward? Is it 45? Note: A focus of this design was to get the propellers out of the view and still have the camera pointing straight ahead? I do plan on making the camera mount adjustable.
Parts List: (Note I bought a parts kit from Aliexpress. Search for "brushless micro drone kit". I put a picture of what the parts look like. Planning to design my own propeller guards for whenever any of these break.)
4* BE1104 7500kv Mini Brushless Motors - I think I'm going to use these different ones than in the image. (I've also included two files for bigger 1306 motors).
1* 2" 2.5" Propellers Guard Bumper Props Protector (Green or Blue)
1* 2 Pairs 2035 Propeller 2.0 inch 50.8mm PC Props 5-Blade CW CCW Paddle (Green or Blue)
1* Q25 MINI VTX+CAMERA 25mw 16ch Transmitter 800tvl coms Camera
(Tested this, major drop outs with my cheap usb receiver. Will most likely use a better one.)
1* PIKO Mini BLX F3 Flight Control Tower 4 in 1 BLheIS 10A 2~3s ESC
(Actually I don't recommend this one for beginner soldering people. I broke one! The motor points are just so darn small and close together. I have a very small soldering tip and a good iron station. Will be using something else!
Nylon or metal standoffs 30mm x 8. (16 bolts/screws for such). One thing nice about the parts kit, it had more than enough mounting hardware to design my frame thicknesses around.
Peace, and happy safe printing and flying!
