A simple two-piece guitar rest to attached to your desk.
I went through a few designs, and settled on this one, where the bottom "cinch" has two raised areas on it to make sure the hold on the desk is very firm. Instead of relying on a perfectly sized desk, it relies on the screws creating a fulcrum that pulls the two pieces together tightly.
I highly recommend you use a piece of non-slip material (I used Naugahyde) on the top to protect your desk from marring (and prevent slipping). You may want to use it for the underside as well. You may also want to pad the rest itself, but I didn't find a need to.
The rest itself is sized so it can fit even fat acoustic necks. (But likely not classical guitars)
This is designed for a desk maybe with 3/4 plywood but can fit on thicker material if you use longer screws. However, I have included an .f3d and .step file to you can alter it to fit whatever worksurface you need.
Requirements:
2x M3x12 screws (Other screws might work as well, but it is designed for this size)
No nuts needed, as screws will grab into the printed part.
Printing:
PLA
.28 Resolution
25% infill for the Cinch, 15% for the Rest. (Feel free to go more dense if you want to)
3+ Walls to ensure the screws have something to grab into on the Rest piece.
I have printed it with and without supports (to support the bore holes for the screws) and honestly the no support version worked fine. If you do use supports, I'd make sure they are less than 15% and have no walls, or else getting them out of the bore holes will be a nightmare. Any stringing from not having support is pressed into place once you put the screws in.
