FICTIONAL] GN Airways ran regular services between Canada, the Pacific Northwest and airports north of the Mason-Dixon Line, with burgeoning passenger numbers throughout the 1970s and early-mid 1980s. For low-capacity routes, the airline purchased 20 Boeing 737-200s and 10 737-300s between 1982 and 1985. Initially a huge success, the airline's 'Baby Boeings' provided years of loyal service to the airline, eventually replacing the DC-8s previously utilised for passenger haulage. By the 1990s however, the airline was in trouble. Incompetent new management, coupled with a recession early on, had led to a decline in passenger numbers and cost cutting measures implemented throughout. These led to an increase in profits, but maintenance and safety culture suffered as a result. This was highlighted in two major 737-200 crashes; a structural failure in 1995, which killed 15 people, and, in 1998, an in-flight fire coupled with a runway over-run (where fire-damaged braking systems led to an overrun of a short runway and an impact with a highway where 25 out of the 85 on board were killed). Coupled with a period of economic uncertanty post 9/11, the airline eventually folded, where its assets were sold off and/or liquidated. This model depicts the 1990s/early-2000s-pre-collapse livery.
