Hey All, getting more into Quixel Suite and seeing the value of gradient maps. Saw this on some video tut, thought I'd share it. Let's you bake the gradient cycles material to an image. To use it, leave as is, append your blender uv unwrapped object/model that you want to bake, into the current scene. Apply the material Susanne has on her, "material", to your object. Hide Suzanne, and switch "viewport shading" to Render(live cycles), to see the effect of playing with Brightness, Contrast and Strength in the material node has. Once you're happy with the way your sexy new gradient looks, press "bake". Go to the UV editor and do a "Save a copy"** of the newly baked grad and Voila you're done. Couldn't find the original video, but this is close...http://vimeo.com/114701437**(this leaves the generated image used in node alone for your next bake)Also check the Dota 2 pagehttp://www.dota2.com/workshop/requirementsIt's packed with pdf's about very awesome game character creation if your interested, and you'll see why gradient maps are used, plus everthing you ever wanted to know about making super looking low poly game gools.CheersPS.
