The Transportable Tactical Battle Platform released in 1985. Flown into position using 4 Dragonfly helicopters. I did not have the toy in hand when I modeled it so I used the blueprints, online pictures and probably a few estimates. Although the file was created in full scale it is optimized for printing at 25%. Unless you stay in that range your print may have too much or too little detail.
A big ‘thank you’ to Chris who provided some key dimensions from his old toy. If it wasn’t for him I would not have made this.
My finished model weighs 44 grams so it cost me about $1.05 for the material to print it.
This file is free to download but please note that it is listed as “non-commercial” because this is a “copy” of someone else's intellectual property and not my own design. Neither you nor I are allowed to buy or sell physical copies of this 3-D model. You are allowed (and encouraged) to print copies for your own personal use.
If you have downloaded this file from a source other than my site on thingiverse.com they have done so without my permission. Thank you for respecting me and the rights of the original copyright holder.
As always, much respect and gratitude to past and present members of our Armed Forces, you are the “Real American Heroes”. Your sacrifice allows people like me to live in peace, freedom and make silly little toys like these.
Printing tips:
This is a lot of parts to print so just a few suggestions:
1.) When in doubt use supports. If they are needed there won't be a lot of support material because I kept it in mind when creating the files. Also, try to orient the parts with the bottom (the part that is on the "underside" when it is assembled) is closest to the build plate. That way, when the model is finished the surface with supports is the hardest to see.
2.) Long thin parts like the antenna, missiles, and gun barrel should be oriented horizontally so they have more strength when printed.
3.) The weapons and the crane share the same post size so you can mix and match as needed.
4.) Finally, you will need three (long) support legs and one (short) support leg to print the model.
