After fixing the stock cloth case twice, and having the velcro wear out completely, I decided I needed to print a new case. My first try was a customized version of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:335122 which can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:335786 . Unfortunately I did not like how flimsy the case felt, and it never quite fit right. Also, I tend to wack my knife on everything when it is on my belt, so I needed to have a VERY robust clip, but printing it all in one piece meant having to choose between a robust clip or a robust case. Eventually I decided to start from scratch, and decided to make the clip and the case two parts to ensure both could be printed at maximum strength.
Presenting the Gerber Suspension Quick Click Case
Now after several months of testing, use, dropping, wacking and other general abuse, and a reinforcing of the clip, I can now say that this design is worthy of sharing, and works great!
Features:
Simple slide in mechanism provides one handed retrieval and return
Satisfying "Click" action when the tool is fully inserted
Reinforced belt clip survives even my worst abuse (drops, wacks, you name it I have done it)
Simple design requires no support to print
