Additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing, which involves layering materials to create a three-dimensional object, continues to gain traction in the manufacturing industry. Quality metal AM production of mission-critical components for use in the most challenging industries such as automotive, aerospace, defence, and healthcare can be assured by developing the capacity to produce durable parts on a consistent basis.
Additive manufacturing techniques (AM) provide the possibility of producing custom components with complicated geometries efficiently in a rapid cycle design. It provides a number of advantages: complicated geometry, reducing weight, fast runtime, feature integration, etc. The geometry in Generative design is formed and generated using Fusion 360. There were two situations according to which material needed to be redesigned and manufactured. In situation 1 final design and material selected were Stainless Steel 4-17PH and in situation 2 final selected design and material were Inconel 718. The manufacture feasibility of final redesigns were evaluated and SLM was selected as the first priority process if anyhow SLM fails to produce part, FDM will be used to manufacture redesigned bracket.
