This is a custom CVT based on the Gaged Engineering Design. Two issues with he Gaged CVT's are their weight, and cooling.

Reducing weight is simply to increase performance. Especially for Baja SAE, horsepower is limited. minimizing weight - especially rotating mass - is important. accelerating is easier, as well as decelerating. since CVT's need to slow down to down shift, lower mass allows for quicker down shifting and faster acceleration out of corners.

CVT Belts create a Lot of heat, especially at idle and at full speed (when the belt is bent at the tightest radii). Because many Baja events are in muddy environments, enclosures are usually reducing much of the airflow. Therefore, any additional surface area for heat exchange is important. Belts that get too hot can melt or burn, reducing their life considerably. this design uses venting to help this issue.

Thanks to Taylor and Will for the original models! I can only take credit for the modefied components (Disks, Outer covers, and lightened internal components)
