The evergreen lychee tree reaches growth heights of over 10 meters. At budding, the leaves of the leaves are bronze color. The fruits reach a diameter of 2 to 3.5 cm and they spherical to ovoid. The thin leathery skin, hard when dried, is pyramidal-warty. When ripe, it turns pink to reddish. The edible seed coat is fleshy, bluish-white, pearly to pale yellow or light pink, juicy, sweet and relatively strongly fragrant. From China, varieties reached Myanmar, India, Thailand, California and Israel from the late 17th century.
