This Foldable Stand is designed to work with HugoHuge's Filler Filament Holder. I have a printer mounted spool holder but I wanted to have a desk top stand as well in case I needed to move the filament away from the printer for any reason, but since I don't need it all the time, I wanted it to be compact. That's where the Foldable Stand comes in. If your like me and want easy storage or maybe you need a reliable stand for your portable 3D printer, what ever your needs, this stand is for you!
The top piece prints most efficiently at an angle giving colour changes an exiting look, allowing you to better express your individuality!
The hinge design keeps the stand sitting upright when opened and once you have the filler and spool in place gravity is more than enough to keep it standing without the need for catches that can wear out.
When it's time to pack it in, the base folds neatly up behind the top, forming a discreet 160mm L x 85mm W x 40mm H package, perfect for easy storage or transport!
A few things to note:
-If your printer doesn't handle angles of more than 45 degrees well you may want to print the top upside down with supports.
-Elephants foot has been compensated for in the drawings but if this is a big problem for your printer you may want to compensate more.
-I used 0.2mm layer heights but smaller layer heights might help with printers that can't compensate for the angle (you may even be able to forgo the supports if you go small enough).
-Make sure your top and bottom are the same thickness as your walls (~1.2mm) to ensure uniform strength throughout.
-Some work may be required post-printing depending on zits and layer-lines, to ensure that the joints close tightly.
