The flag of Saba was adopted on December 6th 1985. The commission in charge of choosing the flag that represented the island, among the 130 different proposals presented, chose the flag designed by a young eighteen year old inhabitant of the island called Daniel Johnson. The colors of the flag are red, white, blue and yellow. The upper part is divided into red triangles, the lower part is divided into two blue triangles, the central part consists of a white rhombus with a five-pointed yellow star in its center. The star represents Saba. The yellow color represents the natural beauty found on the island and the hope of a happy future for Saba. Red, white and blue represent the historical and political link with the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Antilles. White also represents peace, friendship, purity and stillness. Red represents union, courage and determination. The blue represents the sea, an important source of livelihood for the inhabitants of Saba #flag #Saba
