Flag of Cameroon

The flag of Cameroon was adopted in its present form on May 20, 1975, after Cameroon became a unitary state. The previous flag had a similar color scheme, but with two stars at the top of the green band. The colors used are the traditional pan-African colors, and the tricolor design is inspired by the French flag. The central red band symbolizes the blood shed by the ancestors in the war for independence and the star is referred to as 'the star of the union'. The yellow symbolizes the sun, but also the savannah of the northern part of the country, while the green represents the forests of the southern part of Cameroon. #flag #Africa #Cameroon
