The flag of British Columbia was adopted on 20 July 1960 and derives from its own emblem. At the top is the flattened Union Flag, in the center is the golden crown with five points of King Edward, in the lower part appears a sun setting on a background composed of four white wavy stripes and three blue wavy stripes. The Union flag represents the province's past as a British colony. The crown represents the Canadian royal family. The setting sun represents the fact that British Columbia is the westernmost province of Canada. The white and blue waves symbolize the position of the province between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. #flag #Columbia #British #Canada
