Flag of Arkansas

The Arkansas flag is composed of a diamond, on a red background, representing the diamond mines of the state. The twenty-five white stars within the blue border refer to the fact that Arkansas was the 25th state to be part of the United States of America. Inside, on a white background, there is the ARKANSAS blue writing surrounded by 4 stars of the same color. The star above the inscription representing the Confederate States of America, while the three stars below it have three meanings: the nations to which Arkansas belonged (Spain, France and the United States), the year (1803) of the Louisiana and Arkansas sales was the third state to be formed with the sale (after Louisiana and Missouri). The flag, designed by Willie Kavanaugh Hocker of Wabbaseka, was chosen in 1912, following a public competition. #flag #Arkansas #USA
