Contactless rotary encoder based on the AS5600 hall sensor for the fischertechnik construction toy system. It uses these kinds of boards available from ebay and others. Please note that the board's "PWM" connector actually will provide an analogue signal by default.
I use 4x4 mm diametral magnets. If you use "normal" axial magnets, you'll have to orient them as shown in the image. Both sides of the sensor can be used, the distance between magnet and the AS5600 chip should not exceed 3 mm.
You'll need to cut off a strip of ca. 1 mm from both sides of the board to make it fit (see images). If you plan on using the I2C interface, you'll have to add a 6-pin JST SH connector.
