Lifter type robot for the 2007 FIRST Robotics competition. Is intended to lift two alliance robots to a height of at least 12 inches, in order to capture 60 bonus points before the end of the game. Pneumatics unpin the ramps, which slide down either side. When ramps touch floor, the same pneumatics pin the ramps so they behave also as outriggers, widening the robot's stance. The platforms are initially upright in order for the robot to meet dimension requirements for the beginning of the game. The top wheel of the platform 'forks' act as the pivot point, negating the need for additional hinges. Pneumatics are used to pin the top of the forks in place, and unpinned to allow unfolding. The forks are pulled up by the winch in order to tip the platform out, and gravity pulls it the rest of the way, let down gently by the winch. A wheel/roller on the bottom side of the fork meets up with the underside of the ramp, holding the ramp level and preventing any more rotation in the downward direction. The winch rolls out cable, lowering each ramp. An alliance robot rolls up the shallow ramp from any direction (provided by ramps on three edges), and then the winch pulls the platform back up. You are free to use it with the caveat you contact me to let me know (I'd like to see pictures of it) and that I'm given credit for the basic design. #2007 #FIRST #lifter #rampbot #robot #robotics #winch
