Filament Bearing for Anycubic Kossel:
I do think the Anycubic Kossel Linear Plus is a very good printer for the money... but it's fun (and hopefully useful) to do a few mods. There's plenty of filament bearings on Thingyverse but I haven't spotted any specifically designed for this printer - so here goes.
This 'upgrade' comes in two parts:
-A spacer that fits on the standard filament reel bar
-A pair of bearings that also fit to the same bar to allow freer movement of your filament reel.
The bearings fit standard size reels, but also works fine with those reels that come with a wider center. The spacer is intended to fit with it's lip under the bar facing the printer and the two bearings with their lips upper-most facing in to the filament reel. See pictures for more details.
From my limited experience it can be quite hard to design a free-running bearing that will successfully print as one piece, some tips:
i) medium - fine settings
ii) infill at 20%, grid
iii) wall line count of 3
iv) support - concentric at 15%
...for the bearings.
The spacer doesn't need to be at all robust and doesn't need support so I'd go for the minimum / fastest settings that work for you.
Once printed you should find the bearings have two semi-circles of support that need to be removed from the underside. You may find they can be gently pulled from the balls in one go... but I'd suggest taking a bit of care:
The bearings, as designed, do run surprisingly well indeed, but work best if you're been careful at the support-removal stage. Regardless, a few minutes of 'twiddling' will be needed to get them to run smoothly.
I hope you Kossel owners find this useful.
