The 40pin FFC cable on my Geeetech A10 had a bad habit of falling out of the control/LCD panel, because the cable is entirely too short, and the "locking" mechanism of the FFC FPC connector simply doesn't work because there is no strain relief involved, so any movement of the cable at all puts undue strain on the inadequate connector.
I decided the simplest way to work around this problem was to extend the existing cable using an adapter and additional cable. This also gives me the option of moving the control/LCD panel somewhere else if I choose.
The adapter I used is a 0.5mm Pitch 40 Pin to 40 Pin Extension Connector, and is available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RS4S63L
I also used a 300mm x 0.5mm Pitch 40 Pin cable for the extension, but as long as the extension is at least 150mm long it should work.
I used 4 M2x10mm flat head screws to screw the 2 pieces together, the screws should cut their own threads without a problem.
I designed this to firmly, but gently, clamp down on both FFC cables while protecting the FPC connectors and adapter board.
Note: While I designed this to be wide enough to fit the 40 pin FFC cable, the clamping mechanism would work just as effectively for other FFC cables as well, as long as they have less than 40 Pins (think Raspberry Pi camera, which has 15 Pins).
