We decided to make a Robotic Lawn Mower for our MCT382 course. The name of this robotic lawn mower is Ferdous.

Ferdous is an automated robotic lawn mower, which means, it moves autonomously with no need of any drive control from the user. Thanks to the camera attached to Ferdous which helps in not only detecting obstacles in its way to avoid it, but also, it allows Ferdous to detect the end of the lawn when it is reached. In addition to the four attached ultrasonic sensors which help Ferdous in turning around in the environment with no collisions with the surroundings.
Thanks to the electric actuators that drive Ferdous, there is no noise comes out from it like the traditional lawn mowers that use diesel engines.

When it came to market, we decided to make it a B2B business. This means that our target is the lawn keeper and garden care companies that deal with compounds and the private garden customer owners. We took this decision as we are selling a mobile gardening tool that can be used more than once in different places. Thus, it will be needed in the market as it will help those companies in performing their jobs better and faster since Ferdous will allow the gardeners to multitask because of the autonomous self-driving robotic lawn mower.

This project is simulated on CoppeliaSim Edu (formerly V-rep) showing the working environment of Ferdous and the different cases that it can face during performing. The simulation code is implemented in Python programming language and connected with CoppeliaSim Edu using API remote functions provided by CoppeliaSim
