This is my take on the Ear Strain Relief accessory for face masks during the covid-19 / coronavirus pandemic.
Why another?
I was printing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4249113 We were producing 40/hr and giving them away free to medical staff, and first responders. We found someone who had gotten 100 from us for a "hospital" then later pointed to listings from the same person, using the same color filament as we had been. Selling the ones we created for $1 each. Making money off the money we are spending out of our own pocket. So this allowed me to make some alterations and customize based on field response from those who had gotten the original ones from me. In the photos you will see the addition of the FD in the center, this is our watermark in the ones we are printing to make sure anyone who sells them after we gave it away free, we can issue a takedown using the licensing of this. This is not included in the uploaded model, feel free to add your own watermark, or other design in the center to prevent people from selling what you make.
This V2 is slightly shorter, out of all the ones we distributed, none had told us they were utilizing the outer most hooks, so we eliminated them. This allowed us to pack 16 on a 300x300 build plate. Previously with the original style we could only squeeze 12 on the build sheet of the same size.
We also optimized the design, curves rather than corners (Printing corners is slower than curves) and eliminated the need for tops and bottoms. We are able to crank out 86 of these in 1hr across 6 printers using 1.0mm nozzles. We hope this helps you.
