This is my creation to address the addition of the Micro Swiss direct drive setup. I created this as way to feed filament down to my direct drive setup. This design uses standard 1/2" PVC pipe and is very sturdy. I did no use any glue on the bottom base mounts, as they hold with the 10-24 thumb screws. It is possible to put your spool directly on the top, as it is sturdy, but I added a rear mount to support the heavy spool and reduce overhead weight. This setup works extremely well. You can also use a standard empty spool overhead rather than the "V" shaped one I have listed in the part files. The Spool adjuster file you must print 2, and they are so should you want to place your filament spool overhead, you can adjust for the width of your spool. The height of the frame sits about 18" from the top of the printer frame. The overhead spool block and the frame to pvc mounts are a slip fit. Make sure you have your flowrate dialed in when you print so the hole prints to correct size or you might have too tight of a fit when pushing in the PVC. there are some variations in PVC diameter, so you may need to lightly sand your PVC a little bit to get it to slide in. This is a great setup for the DIY-er who wants to build something. In the photo you will see I added a couple of extensions off on the PVC. I added a runout sensor, and another arm to hang an additional spare roll of filament. You can get creative and add whatever you like. Hope you enjoy and please post pictures of your make here if you make it. I would love to see some of your own makes and additons to what I have already created.
PS, if you like my work, maybe you could donate to my design work by buying me a cup of coffee or a small donation to my time. TY
