I wanted a simple sliding tool tray with a lid. This is a single part file that incorporates a hinged lid. Minimal supports required for the lid and sliders. PRINT ORIENTATION WITH BASE FLAT ON PRINT BED AND LID STRAIGHT UP ALONG Z AXIS (as shown in first rendering picture). The hinge and detent mechanisms will print without any modification at .20mm resolution. More coarse resolutions may cause fused joints, so I recommend staying with .20mm resolution for printing. The detent mechanism will lightly hold the lid in place at 0-45-90 degrees
This is a long print. Cura stated about 19 hours, but it actually took just under 17 hours to print, using default Cura PLA settings with supports. Supports come of easily with a small screwdriver.
The LCD display and Y-axis belt tensioner will need to be moved out of the way to slide the tool tray in place. I recommend using ribbon cable clips in the rear to keep the lcd ribbon cable out of the way of the tool tray. There is extra side clearance on the tool tray to clear the ribbon cable, without an extra cable clip on the side. Not sure whether some ribbon cable clips are too thick to keep the tool tray flush with the front of the frame, but I have made some that allow plenty of room, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4065838
UPDATE - For anyone that downloaded file Tool Tray 1.stl the day before 12-28-19, the file is missing a pivot rod and detent. For some reason these features did not mirror in the part file after modifications to the original file were made. I have fixed the file with a new upload today, 12-28-19. Otherwise, the new design works great with the more efficient use of support material. Supports are minimal and easy to remove.
