The emergency exit symbol is an emergency signal indicating the presence of a safety exit. The symbol, which was adopted internationally in 1985, was created by the Japanese designer Yukio Ota in the 1970s. In Italian law, Annex XXV of the Single Occupational Safety Act places it between the rescue signs, indicating that it must be a pictogram of white on a square green or rectangular green background. The UNI EN ISO 7010: 2012 standard changes the appearance of the signal, conforming to the international standard. According to European legislation, the symbol can be turned right or left and accompanied by additional arrows pointing to the direction. The signal may be supplemented with the word 'EMERGENCY OUTPUT'. In the United States of America and in Canada, the emergency exit is indicated by an 'EXIT' red color. The words may be occasionally green or, in the case of Canada, the words 'SORTIE'. The backlight of the signals is guaranteed by the presence of tritium. #Emergency_exit #signal
