This model of a desk organizer is intended for students doing eLearning. It has many useful and efficient features, such as a spot to place your Chromebook/Laptop and a spot for your Chromebook in tablet mode, a notch for a phone and one for an iPad. It also has three cubbies which can hold the 3D printed tape dispenser, and a spot for your phone with a hole for the charger. It has 4 drawers, which can be used to hold the 3D printed geometer and protractor, paperclips, rubberbands, erasers, post-it notes, flashcards, and many other items. The top of the desk organizer can fit 59 standard size pencils or colored pencils, 7 larger pencils, and 8 markers. It also has 4 holes that can fit other objects. There is also space for the 3D printed ruler and bookmark on the top. There is also a cup holder to hold your drink while you are working. This organizer is easy to put together and is very efficient. The unique part of this design is that it has NO overhang and is well balanced. This means you do not have to use supports or rafts when printing.
Some issues I came up against while building this was eliminating the overhang, which I did by using 45 degree and higher angles. The other issue I ran into was making the serrated edge of the tape dispenser actually cut- I used a bunch of wedges cut in half.
If I could redesign this, I would make the design a little smaller and less bulky so it is more portable.
3D printing strengthens this design because the minute details are good for 3D printing, and by 3D printing, much less material is used and wasted. Also, 3D printing is very quick and easy.
