This Attack Bomber was first used in world war 2, continued service during the U.S.- Korean conflict, and again called into service during the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. Following World War 2, the Invader gave up it's 'A' for 'Attack bomber' when the Air force dropped that classification from its roster. It then became the B-26 invader. This versatile multi-role fighter bomber was fitted for everything from radar interceptor to photo reconnaissance. It had ventral and dorsal mounted remote turrets, 6 wing mounted 12mm guns, and the nose could be fitted with an array of 6 or 8 12mm guns. The nose section was also given an optional Plexiglas canopy for the bombardier, and could also be fitted with a radar array for nightime radar interceptor. The last B-26 was retired from U.S. service in 1972. They are currently being used for various purposes throughout the world. In the U.S.one of its more prominent uses is that of a firefighting water drop plane. The movie 'Always' featured the Invader flown by actor Richard Dreyfus. Other countrys are still using them for military use as well as civil defense. #3d_challenge_092 #A26 #attack_bomber #b26 #bomber #Douglas #invader #world_war_2 #ww2 #wwII
