Doctor Strange MCU : Mandala tao support & plates by saberwarthog

Here is the central pieces needed to create a Mandala Tao from the Doctor Strange film, with an acrylic plate illuminated by a 3528 led strip, just like in the photos.
There is the following pieces :

The upper rounded cap, used to close on the top and holding the led strip, with a slit on one side to let pass electric cables. You will have to pierce the lower parts of this piece to be able to add any fastening system to make it hold in place (I used thin steel wire to do it).
I didn't added holes on this part to let you choose your own way to fasten it.

Two different under parts, one with 12v (A23) battery holders (a modified version of this battery holder : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2219910 I just tweaked the height to be able to add little metal parts for the electric contacts) and holes to add a slide switch.
The second under part is used as a simpler base, as the led strip is connected to an Arduino lights system on the Doctor strange costume (this way, we can light up sequentially the Eye of Agamotto, two EL-Wire on the arm and the acrylic plate !)
There is holes in those under parts to help secure the upper part into them, plus a slit at the base to add some elastic strap to hold the finished Mandala in your hand.

a spacer, that can be printed multiple time and tweaked. It is used to make sure the edge of the acrylic plate is aligned with the leds for maximum efficiency. (It's better to print those without raft it seems)
The spacer is needed as you may want to use different thickness for your acrylic plate (as for me, I used 3mm Perspex plates).

2 models for the acrylic round plates : one for the Orange Mandala Shield (
tao_bouclier_orange_V2_svg_simple.svg), one for the Green Mandala Time Spell (Tao_temporel_Vert_svg_simple.svg).
You will have to create the acrylic plates with laser engraving or a CNC tho, and beware that the first drawing (for the orange Shield Mandala) has the engraving in black and the cutting part in red, and for the Green Time spell, it's inverted (engraving : red, cutting : black) (yep, I was distracted ^^°)
The inner cut should be of 37mm in diameter, the outer cut should be 250mm in diameter.You may want to print the 3D part before doing the acrylic part, to be able to measure exactly the size of the upper domed part with your ledstrip on it and compare it with the size of the inner cut before lasercutting.
