** Revision 2 has been posted.
I noticed recently that when I was using the holder, the ipad had some color distortion where the clamps were on the Otterbox version. So, I adjusted the drawing and updated the stl files where the clamp isn't so tight. The fitment test has also been updated
I also adjusted the distance between the remote holders by 10mm total. When I stretched BlaiseB's for the iPad Pro, I went a little too far.
This is a remix of BlaiseB's design, which in my opinion is simple, yet brilliant.
This remix is for the first gen iPad Pro 12.9", with both "bare" and Otterbox "cased" variants.
Changes to the base design are as follows:
iPad clamps spaced to required distance for 12.9" iPad
Clamp profiles adjusted for iPad 12.9" dimensions
Support rings moved, cloned and retasked as line guides.
Paired through holes relocated to align with line guides.
Additional items required:
Neck Strap
~4' 550 Paracord
Optional items:
Small tote bag for USB cable management.
Assembly is strait forward.
Thread the Paracord through the two line guides on one side, then through one of the through holes, then through the matching one on the other holder piece, then through the other hole on the same piece and through the last through hole on thee first piece, as well as the bottom line guide. Between the two line guides is where I put a Bowline Knot. I'll link a page with a good collection of need to know knots, including the Bowline. The other end of the line just threaded should have a loop knot at a reasonable spot for your neck strap, then cut to length and fused.
-Do this again from the other side.
The idea I had with these changes was to offload stress from the printed loops being pure suspension, to that of a captured guide for a line that both suspends and clamps the iPad as weight increases.
Included in the files are two fitment test prints. I would recommend printing one to see how it fits prior to running the full print. One set can be printed on a 220x220 build surface.
