I had some time and decided to look at a possible DIY small city commuter with a number of practical features not found on all the concept designs floating around the internet.

Some of my guidelines:

1. Structural frame made of SHS & RHS tubing - easier to work with than CHS
2. All glass is flat shatterprufe that can be cut to shape
3. Drive train is small IC (motorcycle or small 3 cylinder transverse engine/transmission combinations) or electric.
4. Body panels are 3D printable / non compound curve for manual fabrication.
5. Strictly 2-seater with rear lockable load area.
6. Tough vehicle for 3rd world use

The suspension is based on the "locost" kit car - freely available or self made.

As usual I was too lazy to reinvent the wheel, so I used some components from Gradcad - thanks to all original creators!

This is a bit of an ugly duckling but us engineers are better at form follows function:)

I'd love to hear some comments and improvements!

Step & Rhino files will follow soon.
