because i did not like the way the extruder cooler was bolted up through so many parts i remixed this shroud to separate the fan from the extruder bolts. i added JST connectors to the fans so the entire shroud can be removed if you need to work on the hotend. Initially there was more airflow horizontally that caused the hotend to be over cooled when the fan was on. It cause temp failure errors and took a few days to figure out what was happening. I thought my control board was at fault. I blocked the outlets so the air is forced down to the part and the hotend works fine now.
The extruder mounting bolts can be replaced with shorter ones. If yous replacement bolt heads will fit in between the fins of the heatsink then subtract the thicknesses of the fan, fan guard and heatsink fins ( do not include the thickness of the heatsink base) to get the new length. If not then you will need to use at least one washer per bolt to straddle the fins of the heatsink. For me this meant using a M3x30mm bolt with a 1 mm thick washer. The space between the shroud and extruder mounting block has clearance for that possibility.
