This mask has been designed to fit properly folded and cut out dish towels.
The idea came to me by reading this article in search of an easily available material to use as a filter, since it is not easy to find specific commercial ones.
I have solved the breathability problem by increasing the filtering surface.
I want to point out that this mask has not been tested in the laboratory, and that its effectiveness also depends on its correct positioning on the face, on the positioning of the filter between the ring and the mask, and on the attention in cleaning the hands, face and mask before and after each use.
Always to wash with soap and water before and especially after each use, because the virus lurks a lot on plastic. Store dry in a clean container or shell after washing.
The material to be used is at your discretion, I think PETG is better, but also PLA for its simplicity of printing.
I think is better 100% infill to avoid openings.
For best face adhesion, I used windows sealing strips, better hot gluing them; closed cell gaskets are to be used.
As elastic bands you can use whatever you want, the slots are 2,5mm x 8mm; they can be recovered from exhausted masks.
The dish towel must be as new as possible to ensure the integrity of the fabric.
To cut it, fold it in two, place it on the mask keeping the side bent beyond the upper engagement, mark the support contour of the ring leaving a little abundance. Then fold again on the center line of the mask and then cut with scissors on the marked contour.
In the .PDF file, some image explain better the position of the filter.
I still remember that you need to use tested commercial masks, and that this is an idea for those situations in which masks are not available.
I hope you like this mask, everyone is free to redesign and improve that.
I also hope you are and will be all well and that soon all this will no longer be useful.
