This dimmable night light is based on the "Mechanical iris v2.0" by NTT which was published at instructables. A ring can be turned to open and close the iris to dim the led below. I used a Ledberg Spotlight from IKEA, a cheap and economical lamp with a nice warm light.
The blades were made from 1.5 mm "airplane plywood", the other layers from 6,5 mm regular birch plywood using a desktop cnc-machine by Stepcraft.
