The first Union Station on the site was built in 1881. When this was destroyed by fire in 1894, the station was rebuilt quickly with a new stone clock tower to replace the original wooden tower. In 1914 the Denver Union Terminal Railway Company replaced the center section and clock tower with the shorter Beaux Arts style grand hall that you see today. In the heyday of the station in the 1920-30's, the station serviced over 80 trains a day. Currently the station services Amtrack's California Zephyr line, the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad's Ski Train, as well as the C-Line and E-Line RTD light rail routes and some busses. Today, the station is in planning stages of a major revival as a part of the FasTracks transit expansion plan for the Denver Metro Area. Soon the station will serve as a major transit hub for the city of Denver, serving many light rail and commuter rail lines for the metro area. Be sure to explore the interior as the grand hall is modeled. Model by Crystal V.
