This filament holder is basically a thrust bearing, and after some thought I released that whilst printing ball bearings is unlikely to yield good results, it is possible to print a tapered roller bearing.
So, my Mk2 design does that, gone are the steel balls of my original concept and are replaced by tapered rollers.
This design also includes retainer clips so the races can be moved without all the bearings falling out.
Again this race can have multiple uses, and this version can even be used vertically, but it wont have the same load bearing capacity of the steel ball version. however the load bearing capacity can be increased by using more rollers
